Needle tatting
For needle tatting,first select a thread or yarm. Thenchoose the needle with the smalles eye that will hold the thread without shredding it.The larger (or bigher) the number of the thread or needle,the smaller is size.Here are some suggestions: Thread - tatting Needles

Double Stitch:
Stejně jako u frivolitkování s člunky je frivolitkový uzel tvořen dvěma polouzlíky. Niť z klubka navlečeme do jehly a necháme si volný konec podle velikosti práce asi 50 cm. Jehlu uchopíme palcem, ukazovákem a prostředníkem pravé ruky a součastně těmito prsty přichytíme k jehle niť vedoucí od očka jehly. For bigger size simply click on image.
Niť z klubka uchopíme mezi palec a prostředníček levé ruky a zepředu nahodíme niť vedoucí od místa uchopu k jehle v pravé ruce okolo ukazováku pravé ruky (obdobně jako u pletení jen víckrát neobtáčíme). Jehlou v pravé ruce podebereme zepředu niť jdoucí kolem ukazováku levé ruky a zachytíme a nahodíme na jehlou zadní vláknou jdoucí kolem ukazováku a vznikne nám první polouzlík (obr.1).
U druhé poloviny uzlíku namotáme niť jdoucí z klubka opačně - směrem zezadu dopředu kolem ukazováku, zadní vlákno podebereme jehlou a přední vlákno zachytíme a nahodíme na jehlu (obr.2). Přízi utáhneme a vytvořením druhého polouzlíku nám vznikl celý základní frivolitkový uzlík (obr.3).
Picot:
Pro vznik pikotky necháváme mezi uzlíky asi 5-10 mm volné nitě podle požadované velikosti pikotky (obr.4-5), které se nám vytvoří po přisunutí jednotlivých uzlíků k sobě (obr.6).
Making a Ring
Put the ball of thread on the left and thread the needle leaving about a 4" tail.Pick up the thread about 20" from the eye of the needle and make the first double stitch.
Note: The double stitches are made using the thread from the ball.
Using the thread from the ball side,tat 3ds,picot,3ds,picot,3ds,picot,3ds/photo 6/
Note: Remember that the loop hanging down ist the picot.Be sure to count all the double stitches on the needle before taking them off the picots off the same way they were put on,then put the correct number stitches on the needle.
While holding the double stitches,slide them off the eye of the needle down the thread,leaving a little loop at the needle down the thread, leaving a little loop of the end. I use my litle finger to hold that loop.
Bring the needle up throung the loop.Keep puling to make a ring. A ring has made.
Note: Bringing the needle up through the loop forms the ring.
To Reverse (Rw) turn the ring over to the wrong side,right to left,as it you were turning .
When the ring has been turned (reversed) the threads will cross and form a little tear drop.
Bring the needle up through the tear drop and pull tight,creating a knot. Avoid letting go of the rings as it may turn back over. The wrong side of the ring is facong you.
Making a chain:
Put the tatting needle on the knot just made.
Put 4ds,picot,4ds on the needle .
Slide the stitches off the needle,and keep pulling them all the way down to the way down to the ring.A chain has just been completed.
Reverse (Rw). Turn it over,right to left.A tear drops has been made.
Bring the needle up throug the tear drops, that ties a knot.
Note: The only difference between a ring and chain is this - For the ring,bring the needle and thread up through the loop. For the chain, pull the thread until thr loop disappears.
